I am in love

I never have been in love with an appliance until now. When we started building our new house and picking out appliances, Scott suggested that we get an induction cook top instead of a gas or electric. Scott is somewhat of a kitchen gadget nerd so I wasn't surprised that he wanted to try this new fangled (at least in the states) appliance. I am willing to try something new so I agreed.

By looking at it, it looks just like a flat top electric cook top (I can't say this out loud or it might hear me, get offended and not cook for me for weeks.) It is far from it. It uses an electromagnetic field to heat your pots. "What on earth did she just write." you say? I have no idea what I just said. I just pretend to know how it works. All I know is it works like absolute magic. If you want a clear explanation from someone that knows what they are talking about go here.

To start out it has the responsiveness of gas and the easy clean up of a flat top electric. However that is just the beginning. It boils water SOOO fast. I am amazed. I put water on to boil for mac and cheese, turn around to do something else and then before I expect it to be boiling it is.

And when I need a lower temp, I dial it down and Viola, the heat is gone - just like gas. But it is even better. I have always found that gas cook tops struggle to cook without boiling on their lowest setting. Either it boils or it is not hot enough. Not here. It cooks perfectly at every level. You can even melt chocolate without a double boiler.

It only heats the pots and not the cook top itself. So when something spills, you can wipe it up immediately and not have to wait until it cools down. Yes, it does get hot, but it is only the pot that is hot which in turn transfers some of its heat back onto the cook top. Did I mention it is a bit magical? Love it! Love it! Love it!

To sum it up, it makes gas cook tops hang their heads in shame and electric ones look downright archaic. Don't believe me? Stop by and I will oh so happily give you a demonstration!

It looks so sleek and pretty. I'd love to see how it works. Maybe when we get out there you can show me.

Impressive. Have you considered being a sales agent for these things?

Tiera, your house is so cool! I love all the innovations. I keep thinking that in 5 or 10 years all our houses will be archaic and yours will be right up to speed!

There is one bad thing...When ever something doesn't turn out like it should, I blame my oven or stove. Now what can you use for an excuse?

Good sales pitch, I'd buy. I love my Wolf, (name sake and all) but you have me questioning my love. We may be coming in August . . . I'll come check out the stove, the house, the boys and my awesome friends. I had a conversation about Mahjong the other day and of course thought of you.
