3 out of 4

What is it about Mondays? It seems like every time Monday comes around the kidlets are absolute bears. I have my suspicions that it has something to do with coming off the weekend, returning to schedules and needing to catch up on lost sleep. Here are my examples today.

Anonymous Boy #1 - Decides he doesn't want to practice a certain piano piece today because it is "impossible" to play. It doesn't matter that he actually has played this piece before and I am sitting right next to him ready to help. He goes as far as hiding the book so he doesn't have to play. Scads of whining and crying. Time Out.

Anonymous Boy #2 - Despite my reminder to stay in the yard & me checking on them every 10 minutes, boy #2 and his friend decide to walk to friend's house in their bare feet 5 blocks away. I am in panic mode because I can't find them. I get a call from friend's mother who happened to see them walking to her house and was wondering if I knew what they were doing. I am apologizing furiously, telling her that I was in full panic mode looking for them when she called all the while trying to assure her that yes I do watch my kids and this was just one of those times. She seemed fine with the situation and seemed to understand. I am embarrassed and cancel the rest of the play date (with her agreement) to do a little punishment. Scads of whining and crying. Major time out.

Anonymous Boy #3 - Boy is informed he needs to turn off the Playstation in 30 minutes and is responsible for turning it off when the time is up. I will not remind him. 30+ minutes later I hear it still going. He told me that he knew his 30 minutes were up, but he was just going to do one more play and that only takes 10 seconds. Uh Huh.. Sure. Scads of arguing and whining. No Playstation for a week.

Tuesday can't come soon enough this week.

Ug! What a day. Our Wii was grounded yesterday also. Sometimes I just want to turn on the tv and check out!

The funny part is that when you look at the calendar and it seems so bare you think, hey I can handle that day, and then life sets in and all the anonymous-ness of it. Sorry! I hate those days!

Oh the good old days when you could put them down for a nap. At least tomarrow is spring break.
