Figgy

2 years ago,  I inherited this sad Fiddle Leaf Fig from my parents.  It had been in their home for at least a decade and before that, it had resided in my Grandparents house.  I felt pity for this poor thing and decided to give it another shot at looking pretty.

After doing a fair amount of research and watching YouTube videos on the proper care and feeding of Fiddle Leaf Figs, I pruned it, put it on a correct watering schedule next to a bright window and waited patiently.  Several weeks ago I took the plunge.  I root-pruned  and gave him a new home in this gorgeous pot that I had been eyeing ever since I brought the plant home 2 years ago.

Some serious roots that need pruning!

Swapping out the soil for a better mixture

He looks fantastic and I'm excited to see how much growing he will do this summer.  I think I'll name him Figgy.  Really unique name, right?   He is now officially part of the family.

It's good to see you blogging again. I've missed your news. Love this entry. Grandma L seemed to have a green thumb for Fiddle Leaf Figs. You are probably being inspired by heavenly messengers. :)

That plant looks great. Your mother isn't known to have happy house plants. I have also given up trying to grow them. This plant was lucky you got a hold of it.

I'll be watching for an update! These plants are all the rage right now, but I'm pretty sure I'd kill it. I need to do the same research you did and learn all you know. Great pot!

Funny how root pruning can be such a nail biter.
