Scott and I had a wonderfully relaxing, quiet and warm vacation.
We hiked around the island, including in Volcano National Park.
We ate ridiculously large breakfasts at a local cafe. The portion sizes were immense and the offerings were often unique. This is a gravy covered omelet. I can't decide if I'm more surprised that I ordered this thing or that I actually liked it. Their fried rice was divine! Good thing we did some hiking to balance out the calorie over-load.
We visited numerous Hawaiian cultural spots.
We visited the Observatory on top of Mauna Kea. It's around 10,000 feet above sea level. Cold and very! windy. We were there at sunset high above all the clouds.
I don't know. Can't decide which way the wind blows down at South Point. ;)
We took a red eye return flight and got home around noon the following day. Both Scott and I noticed how loud it was at our house. Was it because we were sleep-deprived that the boys seemed extra loud or we had just experienced a week of quiet. Not sure.
Till next year!
