Example 1:
Taylor's Sunday shirt. He wears this shirt EVERY Sunday. Not any other day. If I try to convince him to wear this shirt or any other decent shirt (ie one with a collar) any other day of the week I am greeted with wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Example 2:
This is what he wears every other day of the week. EVERY. He has this new BYU jersey and an older one. He actually prefers the older one because it has a number on it, but I do have to wash it occasionally so he will resort to wearing this one on occasion. Only when they are both dirty will he wear something else in his drawer. A collarless, pictureless long sleeve t-shirt.
No collars. No camo. No stripes. Plain and simple.
Funny story about the bruise on his forehead. The other day when I picked him up from Tae Kwon Do I noticed this bruise that wasn't there when I dropped him off. Before I asked him the obvious question about what happened I had already concluded that he must of had a rough day sparring. No. He hit his forehead on a chair as he was bending over to take off his shoes. The sparring didn't phase him. The chair did.
Example 3:
My pickiest kid of all. If Owen had a choice he would choose to wear pajamas all day every day. In fact most days he does. We have gotten into the bad habit of changing his pajamas at night into clean ones. Only when we go out will he put clothes on. I call him my little hermit. I can't blame him. I would love to wear pajamas all day, but wearing stretchy things makes me feel 10 pounds heavier and my self-esteem plummets, so I try and avoid it while the sun is up.
Owen's next choice would be to wear his Batman costume around the house. 3 sizes too small and skimpy as all get out. Never mind that it is freezing outside and there is more fabric in his underwear than in this entire thing. He has loved it to pieces literally.
If we actually have to leave the house this is the outfit of choice. Jeans, his robot shirt, snow boots and his "white coat." On the cutting edge of fashion this kid is. Look at that strut.
Example #3
Now I haven't forgotten Bennett. I actually don't have a picture of him in his favorite outfit because he is the easiest of all when it comes to clothes. He wears jeans and some variety of shirt in his drawer. He is not dead set on any one thing. Occasionally he will get wild and crazy and wear his camo or cargo pants, but that is about it.
Bennett's specialty is accessories. He is all about accessorizing when it comes to playtime. Whether it is smashing guitars with beanie hats, wrapping blankets around bodies for capes, or in this case wearing glasses while hunting sharks in a ski boat. He knows what works best.
Long gone are the days when I dreamed of my kids looking like Gap commercials. Instead I've got kids with minds of their own and the looks that prove it.

Let me be the first to make a comment. With looks like these, who needs the fashion gene. Really, could anyone else have such cute grandkids!!! And honestly, Tiera your posts are so fun!
Such cuties. I know what you mean about kids and their own sense of fashion. No matter what they wear they are always so cute.
Owen cracks me up. Love the batman costume. It looks so funny.
May it always be so! I always feel like I have to have some coordinating "outfit" and hair bows galore. Jeans and a t-shirt rule.
I love it! It's like, if I take this off, I will cease to be a Batman or Austin Collie and we can't let that happen! I love the strut by the way.
I use to buy my kids clothes and keep them out of stained or holey clothes. That day is gone. Every thing has stains or holes.
Loved this post. Thanks for reinviting me.
Very cute. It is pretty funny the things they choose to wear sometimes.
If only we could see through their eyes. I bet there is a really good reason they pick what they pick.
