Olympic Enthusiasm

Taylor loves sports, and as much as he loves sports in general he loves to focus his attention on certain sports when they are in season. If it is football season, then that is all he will talk about and his football will never leave his side. When soccer starts then that is all he wants to play. He reads the sports section of the paper every morning to see how his teams are doing. Then he will either discuss with myself or Scott about the particular sport that he is currently following. He has learned that he gets a more intelligent conversation with his dad than with me when it comes to stuff like this. I love this about him.

I found this crumpled drawing of his in the van the other day. It comes as no surprise that right now he is all about swimming. He has been watching the Olympics on TV and talking about Michael Phelps non stop. He is even asking me to take him over to the pool so he can jump off the diving board and swim laps. But he only wants to go when there are no people there so they won't get in the way of his swimming. Freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke - it doesn't matter to him, but he prefers freestyle and breaststroke. This is particularly funny to me because before the Olympics started whenever we would go to the pool I would have him swim 1 lap just to make sure he wouldn't forget what he has learned from his swimming lessons. He would always grumble and pout and tell me it was too hard and he didn't want to do it. I am enjoying his change of heart while it lasts. Football season is nearly here and sooner rather than later his football will not leave his side.
