Lotoja

Scott did it again.  Rode 204 miles from Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  It didn't really surprise me when he told me last spring that he was going to ride it again with his friend, Matt.  The downside is about 4 days before the race, he came down with a cold.

Despite being doped up on Sudafed, they both crossed the finish line.   Good Job!

Bed Head

This kid has quite the bed head.  Every morning his hair looks like this when he wakes up.  A near perfect Mohawk.  The scary thing is that he has been insisting on wearing it like this to school.  I started protesting and telling him that everyone needs to comb their hair before going in public.  To which he countered by saying that he wanted to show his friends what his hair looks like when he wakes up.  The bottom line is, I relented.  Let him go to school like this.  I can think of worse things and this isn't a battle I want to fight.

Labor Day Weekend

Waking up to sheep in the morning
Watching the sheep wander the lot, while the sheep dog kept a close eye on his herd
Roast, rolls and peach pie for dinner
Chopping wood, painting railings, putting on cabinet hardware
Hot tubbing
Bennett, Owen and Chase starting a bike trail

Peaches!

After 7 years and countless dead trees, I finally have peaches.  And a ton of them!  So much that one of my limbs broke under the weight.  However, we did a little surgery and so far the limb is still alive.

The Black Hole that was July and August

The moment we got home from Alaska, my summer turned crazy.  This shouldn't be surprising as this seems to happen every year without fail.  I laugh at the idea of "lazy summer days"  It just doesn't happen it seems.

By the time school starts again, I feel like I am hanging by a thread about read to drop.  School has been in for 2 weeks now and I am still playing catch up and trying to catch my breath.

The house is in desperate need of some organization, blog posts I never got around to posting, e-mails I never bothered to reply to.  The list goes on and on.  I'd like to say that I am on top of everything, but that is just not the case.  However, I do see hope.  I have time now during the day to wade and sort through everything I have put off.  And soon, very soon I will feel put back together.

I don't even know why I bother summarizing July and August, but here is the cliff notes version of the cliff notes.

+ Chasey turned 8.  8 years old!  As his birthday was only a few days after we got home from Alaska, I threw together a last minute party with his friends.  I love my play room for parties like this!  We had his favorite meal (french dip and salad with Blue cheese dressing) and sang Happy Birthday.

+ We've been making quick weekend trips up there to enjoy our cabin and work on the finishing touches.

+ Jaron and Michelle come to visit.  Pie in the face, root beer tasting, and a hike up Timp.  What more could you ask for?

+ Chasey got baptized!  Chasey also asked Taylor to baptize him.  So proud of these boys!

+  Swimming with family and friends

+ Our Ward did a home makeover for a refugee family in Salt Lake.  I was on the committee to help put it all together.  It was so much work!  Not counting the prep time we did organizing the event, our Ward gutted and put back together their entire home, added a deck and did landscaping in 3 days. We worked like dogs, but it was such an amazing experience.  I would gladly do this again.  This is a picture of their kitchen after it was complete.

+ Our 5th annual outdoor movie night.  We did a double feature this year.  Eddie the Eagle and The Burbs.  We had so many kids come!!

+ Demolition Derby - Summer would not be the same without a derby!  A perfect end to the summer.
